An Ethical Discussion of POA, Living Wills, DNR and POLST Documents

Your invited to attend a CEU* event! Join us and Cindy Alvear, associate attorney with Julian Gray and Associates, as we review how having the proper planning documents in place can alleviate any problems that arise for attorneys and/or healthcare providers. We’ll compare:

• Healthcare Power of Attorney
• POLST
• DNR

*Program Approved for 2 CEU Credits through the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work for LSW/LCSW, LPC and LMFT biennial license renewal. These activities meet the requirements of section 21.133 for professional nurses per the PA State Board of Nursing, those sponsored by national trade organizations, associations and their affiliated state and regional groups.

As a family member, friend or caregiver of someone who is living with Alzheimer’s disease, joining our Support Group is a great way to find people who understand what you are experiencing.

In affiliation with the Alzheimer’s Association, we are proud to offer monthly support group sessions. The sessions are free and open to the public. 

The Support Group is held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the Presbyterian SeniorCare Network campus in Washington. Please enter at the Hillsview Chapel entrance (located next to Southmont).

Mingle at our Memory Cafe! Memory Café is a casual gathering designed exclusively for people with dementia and their caregivers. The Memory Café is held in a private room and is a place where individuals with memory loss and their caregivers can get together in a supportive and engaging environment.

The Memory Café is full of laughter, support and even the sharing of concerns—all without the feeling of being embarrassed or misunderstood. Plus, we provide cookies and coffee!

The Memory Café is free to attend. RSVP’s are helpful, but not necessary. To RSVP, please call Rena Tatka at 724-223-5745.


Woodside Workshop: The Reality of Caring for Someone with Dementia

April 05, 2018 – 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Understanding dementia is one thing. Really understanding the reality of caring for someone with dementia is another. In this fast paced workshop you will learn from hands on experts in the field of dementia care. We’ll explore a typical day of caring for someone living with dementia.

Topics include: exploring the types of dementias, approaches to care, communicating, behaviors, practical programming and more!

Register no later than one week in advance:

2018 Walk for a Healthy Community

June 02, 2018 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Stage AE, North Shore, Pittsburgh

We’re walking for our residents; help us to reach our $25,000 goal! Presbyterian SeniorCare Network is a participating organization in the Walk for a Healthy Community, an annual fundraiser underwritten by Highmark. That means that we receive 100% of the funds we raise. We are walking to raise funds for lifestyle engagment programming at each of our campuses and senior supportive housing communities.
